The Carrionites, along with the play, were sealed away. The Shakespeare Code Martha while kidnapped and taken on the Motorway. Learning the Doctor had also visited New Earth with Rose, Martha worried she was a "rebound" companion.
Martha was kidnapped by a couple driving through the Motorway who wanted a third passenger to use an express lane; the three of them were later almost killed by the Macrabut escaped when the Doctor opened up the Motorway. After the two were reunited, Martha witnessed the death of the Face of Boe and heard his final words, "You are not alone".

Martha followed her to the Krib and reunited with the Doctor, but was unable to save Sugarpea.
